\\About\\
The Social Justice Poster Project, founded in 2019, encompasses a three-step approach aimed at fostering dialogue and activism surrounding social justice issues. Firstly, the project hosts speaking events featuring designers and artists whose work centers on themes of social justice, politics, and advocacy. During these events, students have the opportunity to engage with the speakers, gaining insights into their creative processes and the challenges inherent in producing socially impactful artwork. Secondly, the project invites students to participate in an open call for posters, encouraging them to submit 12x18 designs addressing topics of their choosing. While digital formats are predominant, the project also welcomes submissions in mediums such as screen printing and woodblock printing. Finally, the culmination of the project occurs through a gallery event where the submitted posters are printed and prominently displayed. This gallery serves as a platform for showcasing the diverse perspectives and creative expressions of the participating students, amplifying their voices and fostering critical conversations on pressing social justice issues.
If you're from another university or institution and want to get involved in the project, feel free to reach out to Yasmin Rodriguez for more information or to express your interest.
